I appreciate concerns about the impact of the changes: FOBTs are important important to the economic viability of many betting shops, but the Government believes the evidence showing the impact these gaming machines can have on individuals and wider communities is too big to ignore. Reducing the maximum stakes on FOBT from £100 to £2 will help to stop extreme losses by all and often by those who can least afford it.
