Policy Announcement: Points-Based Immigration System

A main reason why a large majority of people in this country voted to leave was to take back control of our borders and end freedom of movement with the EU.

With that in mind, we have pledged that a Conservative government will introduce a firmer and fairer new points-based immigration system. Overall numbers of immigration will come down, and we will ensure that the British people will always be in control.

This will allow us to attract the best and the brightest from all over the world by attracting more high-skilled workers. We have pledged to introduce bespoke new visas to encourage high-skilled workers to our crucial industries. This includes an NHS visa for skilled doctors and nurses, active recruitment for leaders in their fields, and VISAs for start-ups and students.

With Labour once again unwilling to have any clear position on this crucial matter, only the Conservatives can be trusted to create the fairest immigration system which protects British people once we leave the EU.

More details about this new scheme can be found from page 20 of the manifesto, which can be found by clicking here.
