Sports

Chris is the founder and former chairman of EU Sports Platform, which provided a voice for dozens of national and international sports governing bodies, as well as individual teams and clubs in Brussels.  Chris is well known within football locally, nationally and internationally and it was his behind the scenes negotiations and common sense solution of allowing England players to wear poppies on their armbands that solved “Poppygate” in November 2011.  He has also served as Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Football and has spoken on racism in football and assaults of football referees.  He is also an active and qualified football referee and has been officiating the game at different levels for over 32 years.
